Honda Canada has officially announced a new racing series featuring its CBR250R entry-level sportbike, to be held at 2012 Canadian Superbike racing events.
The new Honda CBR250R Challenge series replaces the previous CBR125R spec series and will include a double-header at each CSBK National race weekend.
The series is open to riders 15-25, though riders as young as 13 may be eligible if they have competed in at least three sanctioned CBR125R events. All competitors must attend a competition riding school. Entrants can not be Pro-level riders and may not compete in any other National class events.
All entrants will ride either ABS or non-ABS versions of the CBR250R. Permitted modifications include aftermarket levers, steering dampers, approved fork mods including fork spring and preload spacers, an Elka rear shock kit and shark-fin style chain guard. All racebikes will be equipped with an Akrapovic can in place of the stock muffler. Pirelli will supply Diablo Rosso II tires, with each competitor allowed a single tire change per event weekend, with an additional change allowed in case of damage.
2011 CBR125 Challenge Champion Stacey Nesbitt (pictured below) will compete with the #1 plate.
