I want to purchase a bike in New Delhi. Will be arriving next week and will be there for 2 months. I am an american, as such I am accustomed to 1000 cc power (as my profile suggests). I have been searching classified ads and learning what is available in India. It seems the country is dominated by single cylinder 125 cc bikes with the odd bullet 500 and rd 350 available under 50,000 inr. That or you can get a Harley or CBR for the price of a house!
Is there anything in between?
I will be traveling around in the northern hills so I need something suitable for rough roads. I need my DRZ 400S but it would not fit in my back pack!
Are there any bmw f650's left? Are there any dirt bikes (dual sports) to be found anyplace? Or am I doomed to ride the dirt roads with an Enfield 500?
I would think that the odd Honda 250 XL (or equivalent) would have made it into the country. I would think that single cylinder japanese dirt bikes would dominate such a place where even the cities call for a cheap, durable, pot hole/ curb eating dual sport type bike...let alone the hills.
